The Men’s Head Dress
This is the ceremonial head dress of Kebhu men: a tightly woven fibre cap with long plumes of stripped sisal falling from its crown. It was filmed against a dark background, slowly turning, so the weave and the plumes can be studied from every side.
The cap carries the same weave the royal women work by hand, the craft the Queen calls a gift she was born with. The plumes matter most in motion. When the wearer dances, the fibres sweep and shiver with every step.
Regalia like this wears out. The fibre dries, the plumes thin, and a piece rarely survives much longer than its owner uses it. Filming the head dress puts the pattern on record, so the next weaver has something to follow.
