Fire making art in the Batwa Culture
Fire-making was an integral skill that each mutwa had to have to survive in the rainy forests of Bwindi. It was used to keep them warm and cook after a day’s hunt, however, it is not the case now, since they have adopted to modern ways of living.
However, this remains a special skill that not many people can do apart from the Batwa. The art involves rubbing two sticks together continuously in rhythm to make friction that causes heat and fire eventually.
